Faust has more than 25 years of management and leadership experience in the graphic arts industry. In his current role as President of Commercial & Specialty for Quad/Graphics, he oversees a network of facilities that provide commercial products and services including short-run books, catalogs and directories, marketing collateral, print-on-demand, custom publications, specialty binding, and point of purchase materials to customers.

Michael Makin
President & CEO
Printing Industries of America
Makin was appointed President and CEO of Printing Industries of America on August 1, 2002. Born and raised in Montréal, Canada, Mr. Makin attended Carleton University in Ottawa where graduated with honors with a degree in Journalism in 1986. He also holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix. After a brief stint as a reporter and public affairs officer with the Canadian government, he began his career in association management 20 years ago.

Prior to joining Printing Industries of America, Makin was President of the Canadian Printing Industries Association and for almost 10 years served as an executive with the Canadian Construction Association. He serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors of the Graphic Arts Show Corporation as well as Secretary to the Graphic Arts Educational Research Foundation. He is also President of the Printing and Graphics Scholarship Trust Fund (PGSF), an organization which provides $400,000 in scholarships each year to students entering the graphic arts industry. In 2005, Makin was honored with the Earl Sundeen Award for contributions to education by the International Graphics Arts Education Association (IGAEA). In 2006 he was named a member of the Ben Franklin Honor Society.

Makin is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and the Pittsburgh Society of Association Executives. He is a former National President of the Carleton University Alumni Association and a past Governor and Senator of the University.

Bob Sacks

A veteran of the printing/publishing industry since 1970, Bob Sacks (aka BoSacks) is a publishing industry consultant and president of The Precision Media Group (BoSacks.com). He also is co-founder of mediaIDEAS (MediaIdeas.net), a company providing research and guidance to the paginated media industry, with leading expertise in digital, mobile, social research and consulting. Bob is also publisher and editor of Heard on the Web, an international, daily e-newsletter that delivers pertinent industry news to a diverse publishing community of over 11,750 media industry leaders. It is the longest running e-newsletter in the world.

 

 

 


 

Matt Steinmetz

Matt Steinmetz, Publisher, North American Publishing Co., is Publisher of Book Business and Publishing Executive magazines – North America’s leading b2b brands covering the book and magazine publishing industries.
